My thoughts on Sarah Palin.

I havent really talked about my political stance too much since the beginning of the presidential race.
Most people who read my blog know that I am supporting Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I havent been supporting Barack Obama since the beginning of the race, though. As a matter of fact, about a week ago I read his 65 page blueprint for change that is available on his website, and I loved it. I thought it was great.

There have been times when my vote was split between candidates. There are certain things about Obamas beliefs that I dont agree with. There are lots that I like. There are certain things about McCains beliefs that I dont agree with, but there are also some I like. See, I am neither a Democrat, or a Republican. I am neither a Conservative, or a Liberal. I lean most towards the Libertarian party, but I still do not call myself a Libertarian. I do something that is almost UNHEARD of in America. I do not identify with any political party, and, believe it or not, I vote for the candidate who most closely embodies my own set of beliefs! Imagine that! I vote for the candidate who I think will be the best for this country, regardless of their political party. Almost unheard of.

I would like to talk about my feelings for Sarah Palin for a moment. As a person, I like her. I believe that she is probably a great mother. She has done a decent job as a Governor there in her town in Alaska. She is pretty, she is an ok public speaker. She is a lot like a lot of Americans. A family woman who is a wife, and a mother. A business woman. However, none of those things would qualify her as a good President, or Vice President.

This is something that is absolutely boggling my mind when it comes to the American people, and Sarah Palin. It seems like damn near every mother in America is just smiling from ear to ear saying “Well shes just like me!!! Shes a mom! Her son has downs syndrome!!! She reminds me of my sister! She reminds me of my best friend! It would be like having my sister or my best friend as Vice President!!”

…Are you kidding me? Would you want to be Vice President? Are you experienced enough to be Vice President? Are you qualified to be Vice President? Does the fact that she is a mother to a son who has Downs Syndrome make her qualified to be Vice President? Would you want your sister to be Vice President? Is she qualified enough? Is your best friend qualified enough?
If you are most of America…the answer is no. I am not qualified enough to be Vice President. My mother is a great person, but she would be a shitty Vice President and is nowhere near qualified enough. My best friend is fucking awesome, but, im sorry, Kelley…but you would be a shitty Vice President. You are not qualified enough.

I want someone who is more qualified than I am, someone who is smarter than I am, someone who is more educated than I am. I want someone who is more logical than I am, who has more experience than I do. I do NOT want someone *like me* to be President, or Vice President. And, I think that anyone who judges a candidate solely because they can identify with them on a domestic, friendly, or familial level….is completely, and totally moronic. Sure, being able to identify with a candidate on some level is something to think about when choosing to back a candidate, however, with Sarah Palin…this seems to be her shtick. This is what she is running on…and its pitiful.

The first speech she gave, where she gave her famous “Pit Bull/Lipstick” line, was horrible. It explained nothing. It was almost as if she was standing on stage at fucking Zaneys performing a horrible stand up routine. I was waiting for her to get smashed in the face with a fucking Tomato. Everything she said had a punch line. Her whole speech was nothing but a cleverly contrived slew of soundbytes. I was appalled. I couldnt believe it….

….And sadly….everything she said during the debate was the same way. She came across like a well trained barking seal. She sounds insanely rehearsed. Just a slew of run on soundbytes. I just dont understand. The biggest thing she has going for her is her shtick that shes “just like us!” I dont want someone like me for Vice President. That would be a fucking disaster!!!!

My mind just cant wrap around this. This woman actually said that she has foreign policy experience because Alaska borders Russia. And, when confronted by interviewers about how stupid what she said was…she tried to defend it!!! Oh my God. Lol. Its just insane.

Sure, shes pretty. Shes a mom. Shes a woman. A wife, yadda yadda yadda. Doesnt mean shes gonna be a good VP.

Now, I am not some Obama Zombie. I dont think hes the fuckin Messiah. I dont think he is perfect, I dont heil him. There are very, very many things that I do not like about Barack Obama. He was not my first choice when it comes to candidates I supported for President. Certainly not my first choice. So, dont think I am just harping on Sarah Palin because Obama creams my Twinkie. He dont.

I am just dumbfounded as to why so many Americans seem to think that the fact Sarah Palin is pretty, and a mother, makes her qualified to be Vice President, and possibly President (heaven forbid)???
